Hope for a Flower Girl!

Remember this beautiful couple? :)

Their family needs our support now. Chandra & Andy’s adorable flower girl, Ansley Mangus (5 years old), is in need of an expensive procedure that costs upwards of $270,000. The Mangus family needs to raise $60,000 of that amount. You can read more about the Ansley, her story, and her family HERE. To make a donation directly to Ansley, please follow this link. Any amount would help!

Kristy & Jay’s Engagement Shoot at Lake Miramar|San Diego Wedding Photography

Oy… I haven’t posted a blog in a long… long… LONG time! Due to wedding season craziness, I have only had time to shoot, edit, and post previews on facebook! If you want to keep up with our most recent shoots, check out the Flutter Glass facebook page! This post is most definitely out of order… I have many shoots from this year that I’m really excited to share, but these two are getting hitched this weekend at the San Diego Botanic Garden, so I figured I’d get this post up first!!

Kristy & Jay are just… adorable :). They have a natural ease together that made them so much fun to work with. They chose Lake Miramar as the location for their shoot because they used to go on long walks together there when they first started dating. I LOVE this choice – the beautiful backgrounds & thick layer of fog made for great photos (not to mention all the wildlife!!), but I especially love that this location is personal to their relationship. I really believe that’s what engagement shoots are all about, and that is my foremost suggestion to couples – choose a location that means something to you! It could be the place that you met, your favorite hangout spot, or just a location that totally reflects your personal style as a couple. You can also see Kristy & Jay’s engagement photos featured on Spun Sugar Suite! (link coming soon)

Christina & Travis’ Wedding at Soledad Club in Pacific Beach|San Diego Wedding Photography

I first met Christina & Travis in 2006 (I can’t believe that was 5 years ago!) when we all worked together at La Jolla Music Society. That’s where I met them, and also in fact where they met each other! During the speeches, the matron of honor revealed that shortly after Travis & Christina had started dating, he had told his coworkers that Christina was the girl that was going to marry *swoon* :). Their ceremony at Soledad Club was beautiful! Travis is a violist and the co-founder of Impresario Music, so he arranged all of their ceremony music which included themes from some of their favorites songs and films. I almost lost it when they played the Up theme! If you haven’t seen this Disney flick, grab your tissue box and go watch the sequence with Carl & Ellie – it’s wonderful, especially if you are a big sap like me :). You can see more of Travis & Christina’s wedding in this feature on The Blueberry Wedding Blog!

New Logo for Flutter Glass by Karrie Pyke Designs!|San Diego Wedding Photographer

I’m thrilled to finally unveil this ongoing little project! I’ve been working with Karrie of Karrie Pyke Designs to create a brand new logo for Flutter Glass! I really wanted a hand-drawn, handmade look for the logo to represent my awesome DIY, fabulously creative clients! I threw out the idea of a firefly (I liked the idea of catching light, plus fireflies are rad) and this is what Karrie came up with!! I also love that the logo has a little bit of an edge to it ;). Jordan & Jesse – Encinitas Engagement Session|San Diego Wedding Photography

I love OUTSIDE-THE-BOX engagement sessions! Most couples who love the beach choose the more obvious California option – the beach itself! Jordan & Jesse decided to have their Endless Summer engagement session in Encinitas at La Paloma Theatre! They brought along their adorable Frenchie, Pickett, for some photos outside the theater. These two were a blast to photograph, and I can’t wait to shoot their backyard wedding in July! This concept could really be used in so many different ways to personalize an e-session – just pick your favorite film ;).
